Position Overview
The Industrial Technology Teacher is responsible for providing instruction in a variety of technical and career-oriented subjects, including woodworking, manufacturing, drafting, engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), and other technology-related fields. This role helps students develop technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, creativity, and safe work practices that prepare them for both career opportunities and further education.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards, school curriculum, and industry practices.

Teach courses such as woodworking, construction, manufacturing, CAD, robotics, engineering, or other related industrial technology areas.

Instruct students in the safe and proper use of tools, machinery, and technology.

Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped classroom and laboratory/shop environment.

Integrate real-world applications and project-based learning to enhance student engagement.

Assess student performance using a variety of methods (projects, tests, skills demonstrations, etc.) and provide timely feedback.

Promote career readiness by introducing students to industry practices, workplace expectations, and potential career pathways.

Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community/industry partners to support student learning and program growth.

Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance in accordance with school policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology Education, Career & Technical Education, Engineering, or a related field (required).

Valid state teaching certification in Industrial Technology or Career & Technical Education (or eligibility to obtain).

Knowledge of industrial and technological fields such as construction, woodworking, drafting, CAD, robotics, or engineering.

Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to ensure safety standards and teach safe practices in a lab/shop setting.

Commitment to student learning, growth, and success.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with project-based learning and hands-on instruction.

Industry experience or certifications (e.g., OSHA, NCCER, Autodesk, etc.).
