Industrial Technology Teacher 3/8ths time (2026/2027)
Whiting Community School is currently seeking a 3/8ths time Industrial Technology teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. The Industrial Technology Teacher is responsible for providing instruction in a variety of technical and career-oriented subjects, including woodworking, manufacturing, drafting, engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), and other technology-related fields. This role helps students develop technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, creativity, and safe work practices that prepare them for both career opportunities and further education.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards, school curriculum, and industry practices.
- Teach courses such as woodworking, construction, manufacturing, CAD, robotics, engineering, or other related industrial technology areas.
- Instruct students in the safe and proper use of tools, machinery, and technology.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped classroom and laboratory/shop environment.
- Integrate real-world applications and project-based learning to enhance student engagement.
- Assess student performance using a variety of methods (projects, tests, skills demonstrations, etc.) and provide timely feedback.
- Promote career readiness by introducing students to industry practices, workplace expectations, and potential career pathways.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community/industry partners to support student learning and program growth.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance in accordance with school policies.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners.
- Participate in professional development, school events, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid state teaching certification in Industrial Technology or Career & Technical Education (or eligibility to obtain).
- Knowledge of industrial and technological fields such as construction, woodworking, drafting, CAD, robotics, or engineering.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to ensure safety standards and teach safe practices in a lab/shop setting.
