Staff RN - Surgical Services

The Surgical Staff Nurse is responsible for coordinating and providing perioperative nursing care to a designated patient population.

• Provide patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, as well as accepted standards of perioperative nursing practice.
• Direct the surgical team by performing the duties of a circulating nurse.
• Promote positive interpersonal relationships through effective communication with patients, families, and staff.
• Participate in continuing education and staff development activities.
• Assist the medical staff with scrub nurse duties, as necessary.
• Serve as a role model and effectively promote hospital standards related to operational excellence

EDUCATION

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to read and write the English language.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

• Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Mississippi.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current ACLS certification or must obtain ACLS certification within the first year of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and withstand extended periods of physically demanding and strenuous work.
