Staff Accountant – Tax and Assurance

Key Responsibilities
- Lead assurance engagements, including planning, fieldwork, workpaper review, and completion.
- Manage and oversee staff members assigned to jobs under the senior’s direction.
- Handle tax work for assurance clients when capacity and client needs require it.
- Coordinate with tax senior staff when tax work should be delegated based on availability and fit.
- Build client relationships and provide practical accounting guidance.
- Identify accounting issues and help clients resolve underlying bookkeeping or financial statement problems.
- Support clients across industries, with construction-industry experience considered a plus.
Ideal Background
- Public accounting assurance experience with the ability to lead engagements.
- Experience supervising or reviewing staff work preferred.
- Exposure to tax preparation or willingness to handle some tax work for assurance clients.
- Smaller-firm or hands-on client accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong practical accounting foundation; ability to help clients fix issues, not just identify them.
- CPA or CPA-track preferred, depending on experience.
Benefits
- Base: $80-100k for 1950hrs per year
- Additional pay available for additional hours. (Usually $10-20k per year.)
