The Opportunity
A leading metals & mining company in Arizona is seeking a high-performing Corporate Development Associate to join its corporate development and strategy team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an investment banking professional with 3–5 years of experience specifically within the metals & mining sector to transition into an industry-focused corporate development role. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, acquisitions, capital allocation and growth opportunities across the company's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the evaluation and execution of M&A, joint ventures, strategic investments and other corporate development opportunities.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses and transaction models.
- Conduct company, asset and market analysis across the metals & mining sector.
- Prepare investment committee materials, board presentations and senior management reports.
- Support due diligence processes and coordinate with internal and external advisors.
- Evaluate potential acquisitions and divestitures, including financial, operational and strategic considerations.
- Monitor industry trends, commodity markets, competitors and potential acquisition targets.
- Work cross-functionally with finance, operations, legal, strategy and other internal teams.
- Assist senior leadership with broader strategic planning and capital allocation initiatives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3–5 years of investment banking experience.
- Direct metals & mining investment banking experience is required.
- Strong experience in M&A, financial modelling, valuation and transaction execution.
- Excellent understanding of metals & mining companies, assets, commodities and industry dynamics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
- Experience building complex financial models and conducting valuation analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline.
Ideal Background
Candidates coming from a leading investment bank with a dedicated Metals & Mining practice are strongly preferred.
