The Senior Financial Systems Analyst will work within a project team to analyze, document, and communicate the user requirements enabled by the Finance technology solutions. This position provides support for end-users, on-going maintenance, and functional know-how. The role will be key in project work to provide technical and functional design, coding, testing, and implementation of new reports/software, along with modifications to existing reports/software. The Senior Financial Systems Analyst will provide application integration solutions to improve staff’s ability to efficiently use the financial systems. They will implement best practices for data access, report development, design, and support. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project/ Business Analysis: Meet with stakeholders to define and analyze areas for process improvements Document needs and the proposed solution(s) Lead project team(s) and designated development person(s) to design and implement the solution Act as product manager for financial systems, ensuring that feedback from all customers is gathered and leveraged in the ongoing system enhancement process Where appropriate, assist in the management of outside vendors which support Finance initiatives, including outside consultants, product support personnel, trainers, etc. Work with members of other teams, primarily within the IT organization, to resolve technical problems that may arise Handle multiple projects and priorities Gather input and implement solutions across the organization Develop process flow documentation Design improved business processes and supporting systems to advance Finance’s goals and objectives Create training documentation for both Finance and end users and conduct internal Finance training sessions as needed Responsible for planning and coordinating Finance team activities related to projects Responsible for development of project plans; coordination of resources; monitoring of project status; facilitating project meetings; ensuring that projects remain within their intended boundaries informing and following up with outside dependencies concerning their deliverables; providing concise project reports to various levels of firm personnel; and adhering to project budgets Develop test plans and lead user acceptance testing sessions Custom Report Development and Maintenance: Work with various groups and levels in the organization to define their financial reporting requirements in an effort to advance the Firm’s electronic distribution of reports/data Create detailed specifications for custom reports, inquiries and system modifications Document requirements and design of custom reports, inquiries and forms for financial systems. Manage the creation and testing of said reports, forms and inquiries. Develop low-level custom reports, inquiries, and system modification End User Support: Provide support for users of the finance applications within the firm Financial System Maintenance: Communicate Finance department needs with the IT department to ensure Finance department hardware and software requirements are met efficiently and effectively Play a support role in financial system security set-up and maintenance (both front-office and back-office) Assist in the coordination with vendors to resolve financial application issues Lead finance system upgrades and maintenance Finance project manager for the implementation and upgrade of new and existing finance systems; including, but not limited to: Participation in contract negotiations Identification of missing/needed functionality Identification of reporting needs Validation of the integrity of test conversions and final conversion data Implementation of training labs, including training the lab facilitators, developing lab materials Ensuring connectivity between finance system and ancillary systems Development and implementation of end user training which includes Finance, Secretarial, Attorney, and non-accounting voucher entry areas QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required 5 – 8 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate environment preferred Minimum two years’ experience with relational databases, data validation, and report writing - SQL, Power BI, Business Objects, Crystal Reports or similar strongly preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Visio, Projects and/or Access Minimum two years’ experience in accounting or finance Experience with large ERP (Aderant ERP system is a plus) OTHER: Must be an effective verbal and written communicator Must be a self-starter, organized, creative, goal oriented and willing to take ownership of responsibilities and requests Must be able to work independently with limited supervision Must posse strong relationship management and listening skills Must be able to handle stressful situations and mitigate/resolve conflict Must have strong problem solving and analytic skills to research and provide solutions Must be a strong team builder, an effective motivator and aware of the importance of attention to detail Must have strong time management skills Assist junior analyst where needed Must possess a sound understanding of project management principles and methodologies including project scope, problem/change management, project estimating, project leadership, project management tools, project scheduling, project quality assurance, project reporting, project risk management and meeting management Appropriate skills in working with relational databases, data validation and report writing software The firm offers a generous total compensation package with bonuses and raises awarded in recognition of individual merit-based performance.
