GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
The primary task for this position is to operate the King George County Service Authority’s (KGCSA) pump truck to haul effluent and sludge to the KGCSA’s primary wastewater treatment plant. This employee would also be responsible for assisting in pumping out pump stations, manholes, and other parts of the wastewater collection system. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating safely and efficiently to the various sites and facilities in the county. The employee must safely load and unload waste material at designated locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

- Operate and drive the various types of trucks owned by the Service Authority.
- Handle all operations of the position in a safe manner.
- Ensure the truck(s) are in good working condition by performing regular inspections and maintenance checks, including pre-trip inspections as required by law.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel usage and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Supervisor and other employees regarding schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment; understand and adhere to all safety procedures and regulations; ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and handling heavy equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or vocational school including or supplemented by courses in mechanical trades and considerable experience in mechanical maintenance work involving plumbing, mechanical repair and installations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is very heavy work requiring occasional work lifting in excess of 100 pounds, frequent work lifting up to 50 pounds. Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts, operation of machines, and operation of motor vehicles or equipment. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and oils. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and tanker endorsement issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. A clean driving record. Proven experience with driving a pump and haul tanker. Good navigation skills to serve the various locations required for service.
