General Description: The key function of this position involves managing, recording, and monitoring student attendance data to ensure accuracy and compliance with district and state policies.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintains excellent customer service while managing the flow of students, staff and parents
- Assists with morning tardiness and late bus sign in by recording and reporting tardies, absences and preparing and distributing the daily attendance report to staff in a timely manner
- Works collaboratively with school staff, parents and community members to create and promote a positive school environment
- Performs clerical and secretarial duties as assigned by supervisor
- Independently or with minimal direction composes, edits, and distributes correspondence to relevant stakeholders
- Answers telephone, gives information to callers, routes incoming calls appropriately, and relays messages to students and staff as needed
- Reviews and checks documents and reports for accuracy and completeness
- Maintains files of various types
- Updates and maintains records associated with student attendance
- Supports teachers and other staff members as appropriate
- Communicates orally and in writing with school employees, students, parents, and the general public in an effective and appropriate manner
- Processes documents and other materials as needed
- Performs related duties as required or assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of general office or clerical experience; or any combination of experience and/or training
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of general office or clerical experience
- Secretarial experience in a school or school division setting
- Familiarity with PowerSchool or student data management systems
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Employees are required to use hands to handle, feel, or reach objects, materials, and/or controls
- The employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds
- Regular contact with students, other staff, parents, medical professionals, and other community members may be required
- The employee must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality
- Job responsibilities may include both inside and outside duties
- Sitting, standing, and walking may be required for extended periods of time. Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching may be needed to perform some duties
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Hearing and speaking is required for the exchange of information
- Use of computer or other device screens is necessary
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines
26-27 Proposed Salary Range: $37,943 - $77,042
