King County Department of Human Resources, Career and Culture Division (DHR) has an engaging opportunity for a proactive administrative professional to join the Workforce Development Team. The Project/Program Manager III is an integral member of the Workforce Development Team that develops innovative programs and initiatives to support employee career goals and economic mobility, while centering the employee experience. 

This role will administer the King County Mentorship Program and the Ruth Woo Fellowship Program, including onboarding of incoming cohorts, event coordination, and customer service.  The ideal candidate will thrive in a creative and collaborative environment, demonstrate great attention to detail, and recognize the importance of employee growth and development.To be considered for this opportunity, candidates at a minimum will demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to:
  • Serve as a key partner in the development and coordination of workforce development initiatives, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with team goals and supportive employee experiences.
  • Coordinate key activities for the King County Mentorship Program and the Ruth Woo Fellowship Program, including event logistics, communication with participants, and timely follow-up to ensure a positive experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and tracking systems to support performance monitoring, reporting needs, and continuous improvement of workforce development initiatives.
  • Provide responsive customer service to employees and partners, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of the importance of employee growth and development.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO:
  • Have knowledge of program and project management, workforce development, administration, or similar field.  Any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the scope of the position.
  • Have strong customer service, organizational, analytical, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Can develop agendas and facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Can manage up and across the organization with leaders on sensitive issues and initiatives.
  • Understand how large organizations work, including how to get things done through formal and informal channels and the ability to navigate diverse perspectives.
  • Will persevere and adapt as required, while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Is tech savvy and comfortable working with data and using Human Resource software applications in your daily work. The county uses NEOGOV LEARN & PERFORM, PeopleSoft HCM, Tableau, Microsoft Office, and other software programs.

Teleworking Requirement
This position works a hybrid schedule of remote and onsite work, requiring work in the office at least three days a week. Hybrid work schedules are subject to change based upon operational necessity. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.


King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

Salary : $110,088 - $139,542
