KAUST | Quantum Technologies
A newly established quantum device fabrication initiative at KAUST is seeking a Fabrication Engineer to support chip fabrication for next-generation quantum technologies, with a focus on superconducting and photonic circuits. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape emerging quantum fabrication capabilities at KAUST during an early and formative stage. The role leverages KAUST's research ecosystem and its state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities, working closely with KAUST researchers and external collaborators.
Key Responsibilities
Fabricate and optimize superconducting and photonic quantum devices in KAUST Cleanrooms
Develop, document, and refine fabrication recipes and process flows
Work closely with KAUST scientists and project partners to translate designs into reproducible devices
Support process integration, yield improvement, and troubleshooting
Maintain high-quality process documentation, experimental records, and data organization
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or related field
3-5 years of hands-on cleanroom fabrication experience (academic or industrial)
Experience with thin-film deposition, lithography, etching, and device processing
Strong experimental discipline and professional documentation practices
Highly Desirable
Experience with superconducting devices and/or photonic integrated circuits
Device and process modeling experience (e.g., ANSYS / HFSS / COMSOL / FDTD)
