Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to promote proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas, laundry, and sanitation tasks.
- Implement personalized care plans designed by healthcare teams for residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or other developmental disabilities.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to enhance their quality of life and foster social interactions.
- Document care activities accurately while respecting residents’ privacy and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and hospice care practices.
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts when assisting residents with mobility.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, and families effectively.
- Basic first aid certification along with CPR training; additional certifications in HIPAA compliance are preferred.
- Compassionate attitude with patience for working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism or other cognitive impairments.
