Position Summary

The Program Development Assistant provides practical, day-to-day support to the Executive Director and helps move Kindful Restoration programs, partnerships, and special projects forward. This is a hands-on role for someone who is willing to organize information, follow up on assignments, prepare materials, assist with meetings and events, and help wherever support is needed.

The person in this position does not need to arrive knowing everything. We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, willing to learn, and comfortable taking direction. The right person will be professional and trustworthy while also fitting into Kindful Restoration’s welcoming, family-oriented workplace.

This position regularly interacts with staff, community partners, funders, correctional agencies, participants, and families. The employee must be comfortable serving youth and adults impacted by the justice system and must treat every person with dignity, patience, and respect.

What You Will Help With

Program Development and Project Support

Help organize new program ideas, initiatives, timelines, work plans, and project trackers.

Assist with researching community needs, services, funding opportunities, and program models.

Collect and organize information needed for proposals, reports, presentations, and planning meetings.

Help prepare program materials, handouts, talking points, and supporting documents.

Follow up on assignments and help keep projects moving toward completion.

Provide additional program and organizational support as needs arise.

Partnership and Community Support

Help coordinate meetings and communication with agencies, funders, prisons, probation, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Assist with outreach, presentations, conferences, community events, and statewide initiatives.

Maintain organized contact lists, meeting notes, partnership records, and follow-up items.

Represent Kindful Restoration in a warm, respectful, and professional manner.

Executive and Administrative Support

Assist with calendars, meetings, schedules, travel arrangements, and organizational errands when needed.

Prepare correspondence, reports, agendas, meeting packets, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Take meeting notes and organize action items for follow-up.

Maintain electronic and paper files so information can be easily located.

Handle confidential information with care and good judgment.

Grant, Data, and Reporting Support

Assist with gathering program data, outcomes, participant information, and supporting records.

Help organize documents for grant applications, reports, monitoring visits, and contract requirements.

Proofread materials and check that documents are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.

Work with leadership and staff to collect missing information and keep deadlines visible.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree in business, public administration, nonprofit management, communications, social services, or a related area is helpful but not required.

Relevant administrative, program support, community outreach, project coordination, or nonprofit experience is preferred.

Experience may come from paid employment, internships, volunteer service, community work, or lived professional experience.

Experience working with justice-impacted communities, reentry services, behavioral health, housing, youth services, or community-based programs is helpful.

Skills and Abilities

Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to follow through on assignments.

Clear and respectful written and verbal communication.

Comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, shared calendars, online meeting platforms, and cloud-based files.

Ability to prepare basic reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and professional emails.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.

Ability to work independently while accepting direction and staying accountable to leadership.

Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance may be required.

Work Environment

Primarily an in-person office position in Riverside, California.

Occasional travel to meetings, correctional facilities, community events, program sites, or partner locations may be required.

Some evening or weekend availability may be needed for events, deadlines, or special projects.

The position involves regular computer and telephone use and may occasionally require lifting office or event materials up to 25 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time position.

Pay is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Benefits are provided according to Kindful Restoration eligibility requirements and organizational policies.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
