Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Strategic Buyer to support purchasing and materials logistics within our Manufacturing Department. This role plays a key part in ensuring production schedules are met by managing end to end procurement and supplier coordination.
The Senior Strategic Buyer will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support product development while maintaining efficient supply chain operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
This is a hands on role and requires daily collaboration with internal teams and suppliers. This position is fully on site and is not remote or hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage RFQ and purchase order processes for assigned materials and suppliers
• Identify new suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and service levels
• Participate in S and OP processes including demand planning and material forecasting
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate safety stock to support production schedules
• Balance material demand and supply to reduce stockout risks through forecasting and supplier coordination
• Create purchase orders in the ERP system and maintain accurate open PO records
• Track inbound shipments, monitor supplier performance, and expedite deliveries when needed
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers while addressing quality and service issues
• Communicate material delivery or quality changes to production and internal teams
• Purchase materials and services while achieving the best value in price, quality, and delivery
• Develop material cost forecasts and estimates based on engineering designs and specifications
• Identify inefficiencies, cost gaps, and opportunities for supply chain improvement
• Support cost optimization and process improvement initiatives
• Maintain compliance reporting including ROHS, REACH, and Conflict Mineral documentation
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost savings and margin improvement
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 plus years of relevant experience
or
• Associate’s degree with 10 plus years of relevant experience
• Industry certifications such as C.P.M. are a plus
• Experience working in a high tech manufacturing or production environment preferred
• Experience with manufacturing resource planning systems such as SAGE or equivalent ERP systems
Skills and Abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with experience analyzing large data sets
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under deadlines
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team oriented manufacturing environment
• Self starter who takes ownership and can make decisions in a fast paced setting
