Purpose:

The purpose of a Licensed Plumber is to install, inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures in water, gas, and drainage systems according to local Sedgwick County/Wichita trade standards, local amendments, and building codes, working with little to no supervision alongside a team of apprentices.

Responsibilities:

• Lead jobs, crews, projects, and apprentice plumbers on job sites throughout the Greater Wichita area.

• Install, inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures in water, gas, and drainage systems in compliance with the Universal Plumbing Code (UPC) and City of Wichita / Sedgwick County local plumbing code amendments.

• Identify safety problems applicable to the installation and take necessary corrective action.

• Read blueprints, follow supervisor and/or contractor instructions, and complete quality control sheets accurately.

• Make authoritative decisions on the job site without disruption to business operations, job timelines, or work quality.

Qualifications:

• 2 years of verified plumbing experience.

• Active Journeyman Plumbing License or Master Plumbing License issued or recognized by the City of Wichita / Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD) (or possess a transferable license with an ICC/Prometric exam score eligible for Wichita/Sedgwick County reciprocity).

• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Collaborative attitude and team-oriented mindset.

• Ability to successfully pass a DOT Physical and Drug Screen.

Core Physical Requirements:

• Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects, typically up to 50–75 lbs independently.

• Mobility and Agility: Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing ladders, crawling into tight spaces (like crawlspaces or attics), and kneeling or crouching for extended periods.

• Manual Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle small tools and components with precision.

• Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for the duration of an 8–12 hour shift, often in varying Kansas weather conditions or non-climate-controlled environments.
