Middle School Educator — Individualized In-Home Instruction
Mendon/Killington, Vermont | Part-time teaching opportunity
Our family is seeking an experienced educator to provide individualized instruction for our 11-year-old son in a home-based learning environment.
He is verbal, curious, and benefits from clear routines, hands-on learning, and adults who can connect instruction to his interests. You will collaborate with behavioral support staff, our family, and a consulting BCBA to create an engaging, appropriately challenging educational program.
Responsibilities
- Assess current academic skills and plan instruction responsive to his strengths and learning needs.
- Teach reading, writing, mathematics, and other middle school subjects.
- Adapt materials and pacing while maintaining meaningful academic expectations.
- Incorporate practical activities, projects, and interests into instruction.
- Coordinate lessons and routines with behavioral support staff.
- Track academic progress and provide clear updates to the family.
- Help the team carry learning activities across days when you are not present.
Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the upper elementary or middle school level.
- Experience supporting students with autism or other learning differences.
- Vermont teaching license preferred; special education endorsement is especially welcome.
- Ability to provide individualized instruction and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong planning, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to complete a background check and provide professional references.
Schedule and compensation
Flexible weekday daytime hours. We are open to a part-time arrangement combining direct instruction, planning, and coordination with support staff. Compensation based on qualifications and responsibilities.
