Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in meal preparation and a passion for the food industry. This position requires efficiency, independence, and attention to detail. The Prep Cook must work collaboratively with the hotel team to ensure that continental breakfast remains stocked and tidy for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Breakfast Set Up:
- Prepare and set up continental for hotel guests
- Continuously stock breakfast items and coffee from 7AM - 10AM
- Great guests as they arrive
- Maintain a tidy breakfast area
- Clear and wash plates as guests finish
- Food Preparation:
- Prep Ingredients and Recipes required on daily prep list
- Property label and store food for nightly use
- Organize and clean kitchen at the end of each shift
- Station Management:
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift.
- Break down and clean the station thoroughly at the end of each shift.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor food stock and place orders as needed.
- Inspect food items for quality and freshness.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items to prevent spoilage.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work in collaboration with hotel and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Communicate effectively with the Kitchen Manager and kitchen team regarding any issues or needs.
- Health and Safety:
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Have property knife safety knowledge
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the Head Chef/Kitchen Manager.
- Customer Service:
- Assist in maintaining positive customer relations by providing high-quality food and service.
- Address customer concerns and special requests in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Food handler’s certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
