What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Machinist Technician position at KIHOMAC?
- Assist in all phases of part machining and water jet operations including:
- Review of part/component/system technical data for completeness and accuracy
- Identification of tooling, jig, and fixture requirements & support/input/review of engineering designs
- CNC file implementation
- Set-up
- Rough and finish machining
- Identify machine tool requirements
- Provide support to either Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in the areas of scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, specifications and associated documentation
- Assist with department administrative duties as necessary to learn about the work being performed, and to contribute to completion of department workload
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Training:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
Experience:
- 0-2 years of professional experience in the required task area
Security:
- Must be a US citizen
- Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements
- Able to assess, install, and modify equipment, and inspect machinery
- Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp and reach with hands and arms, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
- Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
- Prolonged periods of standing while operating machinery
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
- Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time
