School Transportation Driver – Job Description
A School Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, field trips, and school-related activities while following all traffic laws and school district policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a school bus or other school-approved vehicle
- Pick up and drop off students at designated stops on time
- Ensure student safety while boarding, riding, and exiting the vehicle
- Follow assigned routes and schedules
- Maintain order and appropriate student behavior on the bus
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Report accidents, delays, or vehicle issues promptly
- Keep the vehicle clean and in good working condition
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and school staff
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Knowledge of traffic laws and safety procedures
- Ability to remain calm and patient with students
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Good communication and time-management skills
Working Conditions:
- Early morning and afternoon hours
- Requires sitting for extended periods
- Responsible for the safety of children of various ages
- May be ask to stay and help watch the children at the center
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
