What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential -Certified Nursing Assistant position at KidsTLC?
This is a client/resident care-oriented position that is intended to provide emotional and physical comfort to clients. This position is established to serve as part of a team of support to deliver high quality services and care to clients served by KidsTLC. The certified nursing assistant will provide support to the nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of our clients. Services will be individualized and provided in the most appropriate setting, in a timely fashion, in accordance with best practices and the CNA Code of Ethics, all without prejudice.
The certified nursing assistant will work under the direct supervision of the registered nurse or licensed practical nurse while completing tasks that have been specifically delegated. Work performance is reviewed through supervision, reports, and evaluations. Incumbent to this position, the CNA will be an employee of KidsTLC and will be subject to the KidsTLC personnel policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Provide primary nursing care for KidsTLC clients:
· Measure and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate and blood oxygen saturation as well as height, weight, and waist circumference, as directed by nursing staff.
· Collect lab specimens, such as urine.
· Transport specimens, laboratory items or pharmacy items, ensuring proper documentation and delivery to authorized personnel.
· Stock and deliver medical supplies to campus nursing offices.
· Respectfully meet the reasonable medical and emotional needs of the clients.
· Perform basic first aid assessments and treatments for minor complaints.
· Communicate and coordinate care with other members of the nursing team.
· Document and report observations of patient behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
· Inform Vice President of Medical Services and Director of Nursing of any emergency, concern, or adverse changes in clients’ mental or physical health.
· Provide education and support for the PRTF staff when needed.
· Practice and exemplify the principles of P.A.C.E. with the clients and staff.
· Treat all patients, their family members, visitors, and staff with respect, always engaging others in a tactful manner.
· Practice within 100% of HIPAA and COA regulations.
· Comply with all safety and health regulations.
· Help maintain a safe, hygienic, and nurturing environment.
Administer medications to clients and maintain medications according to KidsTLC’s policy and procedure:
· Ensure medications are filled to prescription by comparing pharmacy-delivered medications to the MAR and/or OrderConnect.
· “Pack” medications by adding additional prescribed meds, such as over-the-counter meds or controlled substances, to the clients’ pre-filled medication packets.
· Administer medications to the clients using best practices standards adhering to the 5 rights of medication administration.
· Observe, record, report and document the mental and physical condition of the client and any change.
· Ensure client complies with prescribed pharmacological therapy.
· Notify the Vice President of Medical Services, the Director of Nursing and the clients’ Medical Provider of all adverse events related to medication administration, errors, losses, and wastes in a timely manner, ensuring and completing all proper documentation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Completion of an accredited CNA/CMA.
Candidate must have a clear criminal history.
Prior experience in a direct patient care setting is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize assignments and execute tasks independently.
Compassion, empathy, and desire to help children and teens.
Successfully complete all required training related to the KidsTLC Certified Nursing Assistant position.
