Since 1999, the Kids House mission is to prevent child abuse, and to aid child abuse victims and families by providing coordinated services in a safe, child-friendly environment from report and investigation to treatment and resolution. Each year, we serve nearly 2,000 children. In collaboration with law enforcement, the State Attorney's office, medical personnel, child protection professionals, social workers, and licensed mental health counselors, we work to put and end to child abuse and neglect. Kids House is comprised of a multidisciplinary staff including Medical Professionals, forensic interviewers, Child Protection Team, Child Advocate Crisis Intervention Specialists, Mental Health Therapists, Executive Director, Development Director, and community volunteers.
Role Description The Development Coordinator plays a vital supportive role in achieving fundraising targets for the organization by assisting the Development Director with a wide range of development activities. These include but are not limited to: technical and administrative support to the the Director, communications, marketing, outreach, gift processing, event planning, and donor acknowledgement. This is a full-time, onsite position.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong administrative experience
- Exceptional organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
- Work well under deadline and pressure, with an ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Able to prioritize, be flexible, and meet deadlines in a rigorous atmosphere
- Superior skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic desktop publishing skills (e.g. PowerPoint, Adobe or Canva)
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Creative thinking and problem solving
- Commitment to an intense and aggressive forward-moving development effort
- Willing and able to work extended and flexible work hours as needed
- Strong professional interest or passion for child welfare and abuse prevention
Preferred:
- Non-profit development experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
- Some experience with fundraising software (e.g. Donor Perfect, Raiser’s Edge)
- Comfort with public speaking and/or interaction with business and community members
Job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with Development Director in all areas of Philanthropy and Development
- Support all aspects of fundraising events (Annual Gala, Clay Shoot, and Breakfast)
- Support Beneficiary and Client Events in liaison with other Kids House program staff
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers
- Assist with creation of marketing and development literature
- Maintain the web site and social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
- Assist the Director on public relations and communications such as the dissemination of all print and virtual PR and marketing materials (e.g. e-Newsletters, press releases, donor emails).
- Maintain community activity calendar of pending events in the community (e.g. various City Chambers, County Chamber, Regional Chamber, Rotaries, OBJ events)
- Responsible for maintaining Donor Perfect (fundraising software), duties include: inputting data, cleaning data, adding and maintaining existing and prospective donor records
- Execute mailing of appeal letters and donor acknowledgement letters in a timely fashion
- Help manage Constant Contact (mass communications)
- Manage some direct donor communications (e.g. “thank you letters”, tax deduction info. for donors)
- Help publish and send e-newsletter through Constant Contact
- Monitor Employee and Workplace Giving campaigns from Central Florida contributing businesses and track and manage the Kids House Heroes Monthly Giving Club
- Administrative tasks to assist Development Director (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, scanning, copying, printing, small project management)
- Facilitate and log credit card donations
- Help solicit and secure items or in-kind donations for Kids House as needed
