Kiddie City is Hiring: Special Needs & Behavioral Support Teacher

Kiddie City Early Childhood Education Centers are expanding, and we’re looking for a Teacher with experience supporting children with special needs and/or challenging behaviors to join our team at our Hood River or Parkdale location. You are more likely to get hired if you are flexible on location.

This is a full-time position (approx. 30 hours/week) with opportunities for growth, leadership, and professional development.

About the Role

We’re seeking a compassionate, skilled educator who can support children with a range of developmental, behavioral, and sensory needs. You’ll work closely with a caring team to create an inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and capable of success.

You will:

  • Provide individualized care and guidance to children with special needs or behavioral challenges
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies and calm, consistent communication
  • Collaborate with team members and families to develop strategies for each child’s success
  • Foster social-emotional growth and build trust through empathy and patience
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
  • Encourage every child’s curiosity, confidence, and independence

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children who have special needs or exhibit challenging behaviors (required)
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and trauma-informed care
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Calm, empathetic, and reliable demeanor
  • Ability to maintain structure while meeting each child’s individual needs

Education & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Schedule & Compensation

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 6-hour shifts (~30 hours/week)
  • Pay: $17–$22 /hour (based on experience, education, and certification)
