What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook Level I position at KICKAPOO CASINO SHAWNEE?
Job Purpose: Preps a variety of food products including meats, poultry, vegetables, sauces, and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List.
Essential Functions:
- Prep food according to instructions for usage by other kitchen team members.
- Prep a variety of sauces, fresh ingredients, meats, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, frills, fryers, and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
- Understand and comply consistently with the casino standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules; Policies and Procedures.
- Responsible for correct storage and rotation of all food products delivered to kitchen.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, and convection oven and refrigeration equipment.
- Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to the kitchen supervisor.
- Performs other duties and projects as required by management.
- Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
Working Conditions:
- Normal restaurant environment.
- Flexible hours (week-ends, nights, holidays).
- Ability to organize and coordinate multi tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Walking or standing for long periods of time; Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing and visual acuity.
- Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs)
- Occasional lifting (up to 75 lbs).
- Be able to reach, bend and stoop.
Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:
- Must have a High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have basic math skills.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 Hours).
- Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and kitchen personnel.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
- Current Food Handlers License within 30 days of date of hire.
- Ability to work any shifts, start time, weekends, and holidays
- Documents that establish both Identity and Employment Eligibility.
- Kickapoo Tribal Gaming License.
