Job Summary
The Safety Representative supports the development of a proactive, people‑centered safety culture. In conjunction with Safety Department Leadership, this role focuses on strengthening safe work practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping associates at all levels understand that safety is a shared responsibility. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, approachable, and committed to continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
Job Responsibilities
- Safety Culture Development
- Promote a positive, collaborative safety mindset across the organization.
- Encourage associate involvement through conversations, educating, and participation in safety initiatives.
- Support rollout of new safety programs, campaigns, and recognition efforts.
- Help implement and reinforce safety programs as directed by Safety Department management, ensuring alignment with organizational decisions and priorities.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of the manufacturing floor to maintain a visible safety presence and to provide support to associates.
- Facilitate communication between associates and management regarding safety concerns, acting as a liaison rather than a policy-setting authority.
- Training and Communication
- Deliver and coordinate safety training for new and existing associates.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently through meetings, signage, and informal interactions.
- Assist in developing simple, practical safety materials such as job aids, toolbox talks, and visual standards.
- Evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance.
- Support departments in ensuring that contractors/vendors working on site are compliant with policies and safety requirements.
- Hazard Identification & Risk Reduction
- Conduct routine safety inspections and walk throughs to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
- Partner with leadership to implement corrective actions that are realistic and sustainable.
- Support job safety analyses (JSAs) and ergonomic assessments.
- Incident Response & Investigation
- Participate in investigations to determine root causes and propose preventative measures.
- Track corrective actions and verify completion.
- Maintain confidentiality and a learning-focused approach with associates involved in incidents.
- Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Assist with compliance efforts related to OSHA and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Support audits and regulatory visits as needed.
- Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to safety committees and cross-functional improvement teams.
- Monitor safety metrics and help identify trends.
- Recommend to Safety Department management practical improvements to processes, equipment, and work practices.
- Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly work environment.
- Perform all duties in a manner that follows, demonstrates, and promotes Company’s values.
- Report to work as scheduled, on time, and able to work entire work schedule.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic safety principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex situations and apply solid problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on education/experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust with associates at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting.
- Frequent wrist manipulation.
- Frequent use of fingers to grasp, move or assemble varying sizes of objects.
- Manual dexterity to type and operate office equipment frequently.
- Frequent ability to be ambulatory within a large manufacturing facility; including walking and standing.
- Frequent light/medium work with lifting up to 15 pounds.
- Occasional medium work with lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements to perform the essential functions.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Safety‑related certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or similar) are a plus.
Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred.
Working Environment
- Standard working conditions include a temperature-controlled office and manufacturing environment.
