Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and specialized equipment for hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
- Plan and execute over-the-road (OTR) driving routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across regional or national destinations.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of cargo in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Transport automobile transportation units or freight requiring specific handling procedures while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, delivery documentation, and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before hitting the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules, provide updates, and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) Class A license.
- Prior experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized equipment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and route planning for efficient delivery execution.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT compliance standards, and safety protocols for dangerous goods transportation.
- Experience in load & unload procedures, truck loading/unloading techniques, and logistics cargo handling.
- Delivery driver experience involving freight movement across regional or over-the-road routes is preferred.
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently while maintaining safety standards at all times.
