- Lead and develop underwriting professionals through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Establish team objectives and support execution of business and operational goals
- Oversee risk assessment, pricing decisions, and policy review activities to ensure quality and consistency
- Monitor underwriting performance metrics and implement strategies to improve profitability and portfolio results
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience, service delivery, and business growth
- Manage relationships with brokers, partners, and key stakeholders to support retention and new business initiatives
- Review and approve complex account decisions while providing guidance on underwriting authority
- Contribute to process improvement efforts, regulatory compliance initiatives, and operational best practices
- Partner with leadership to identify emerging risks, support product enhancements, and improve underwriting strategies
- Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture aligned with organizational values
- Prepare and present business results, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership
- Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced insurance industry designations or progress toward certification preferred
- 10 years of commercial insurance underwriting, claims, product development, or related experience
- 8 years of leadership experience managing underwriting or insurance operations teams
- Strong knowledge of risk evaluation, pricing principles, policy interpretation, and coverage analysis
- Experience driving business performance, profitability, and operational improvements
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and manage change in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and relationship management abilities
- Experience collaborating across business functions to achieve strategic objectives
