Internal Controls Lead

Responsibilities

Kforce is partnering with a confidential client in Saint Louis, MO that is seeking an Internal Controls Lead. Summary: This role will contribute to risk assessment activities, support the design and implementation of controls, and assist with ongoing monitoring efforts to enhance compliance, consistency, and operational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and execution of the organization's internal controls strategy
• Partner with process owners and leadership to strengthen the control environment
• Monitor control performance, identify weaknesses, and track remediation plans
• Lead periodic risk and control assessments across business functions
• Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness, recommending improvements where needed
• Oversee control-related projects and provide guidance to internal team members
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards
• Prepare clear reporting and communicate findings to leadership
• Stay current on internal controls best practices and implement process enhancements
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification preferred (active or in progress acceptable)
• 3 years of relevant experience in internal controls, audit, or a related function
• Strong business acumen with the ability to build effective relationships across the organization
• Solid analytical skills with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate clearly across all levels
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with experience driving change
• Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and risk-based control frameworks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP system experience a plus
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Strong desire to contribute within a growing team structure
• Willingness to travel up to 20%
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
