Keytronic Oakdale, MN facility is seeking an AOI Rework Specialist who will perform a variety of tasks associated with material handling and control in support of rework processes for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs). This position will be responsible for performing soldering rework on PCBAs per IPC 7711/21 standards as defined in Aegis (Electronic Work Instructions) and supporting general hand soldering operations as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)

  • Ability to perform tasks that are moderately complex in nature, use judgment in resolving problems, and make technical recommendations.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Orders and maintains supplies necessary to repair PCBAs.
  • Installs, solders and inspects thru-hole and surface mount components, wires in circuit boards per RMA documentation and IPC workmanship standards.
  • Reads routers, follows electronic files, production drawings or sample assemblies, and/or receives verbal instructions regarding operations to be performed. Direction of these activities may be given by the production team, engineering/technician group, or rapid response business group.
  • Inspects component parts prior to assembly and rejects defective parts.
  • Microscope and halo light soldering may be required.
  • Inspects and evaluates the quality of products.
  • Reviews workmanship and reports defects in order to improve quality.
  • Will work both independently and in groups in problem solving. Will require interfacing with numerous internal and external personnel.
  • Expected to maintain competency with regard to changes in technologies.
  • Report, to the appropriate personnel, any item which may affect product performance, reliability, schedule, cost, or employee performance. Recommend improvements and changes that may be needed.
  • Additional tasks as required to fulfill team goals and requirements.

SUPERVISION GIVEN/RECEIVED

Is supervised by the Director of Manufacturing, Production Supervisor, and Hand Solder Lead with no direct supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, talk, hear, and see. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with hands and arms. The environment is fast-paced, time pressured, and requires accuracy. The employee will regularly multi-task between projects, be required to move throughout the office building and production floor. Effectively communicate orally and written.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school education or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience working as a manual soldering specialist and/or electronics technician
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to read and understand customer drawings/specifications
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, SMT materials, & electronic packaging
  • Basic math skills
  • Must be able to correlate components and component polarity screen symbols and pad shapes.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good vision, hand coordination and manual dexterity are required.
  • Ability to read, write and otherwise communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to read and understand work routers, bill of materials, assembly drawings, component identification, and component polarity.
  • Basic PC Knowledge.
  • Successfully pass and maintain the IPC-J-STD-001 solder evaluation.
  • Successfully pass and maintain the IPC-A-610, IPC-7711, and IPC-7721 certification.
