Senior Human Resources Consultant
Position Summary:
The Senior Human Resources Consultant serves as a strategic advisor to clients by delivering comprehensive HR guidance, developing and implementing human resources initiatives, and ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. This role partners closely with leadership and clients to support workforce effectiveness, employee relations, and organizational success. The position reports directly to the General Counsel & Vice President of Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on a broad range of human resources matters, including employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, hiring and termination practices, wage and hour compliance, unemployment claims, and leave administration under FMLA and ADA regulations.
- Prepare and present employee and management training on a variety of human resources topics, including but not limited to, harassment prevention, performance management, corrective action, termination procedures, and leave of absence management.
- Perform audits of internal human resource processes and policies to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Review, revise, and draft employee handbooks, policies, procedures, and other HR-related documentation tailored to client needs.
- Provide onsite Human Resources consulting support to clients, as necessary.
- Develop and contribute HR-related articles, blogs, and thought leadership content for publication on the company website and other marketing platforms.
- Manage full-cycle recruiting process, including job postings, sourcing candidates, interviewing, and negotiating employment offers.
- Administer and manage employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other related leave programs.
- Actively pursue new clients by promoting Keystone Risk Management’s HR consulting services to existing clients, Keystone partner agencies, and businesses.
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving employment laws, HR best practices, and regulatory changes impacting clients and the organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- SPHR or PHR preferred
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive human resources generalist experience with a strong background in employee relations and employment law
- Minimum of 3 years of experience recruiting across multiples disciplines
- Experience with compensation analysis and program design preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications; working knowledge of Salesforce a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build relationships with senior leadership and clients
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10-15%, including occasional overnight travel
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, as permitted by law
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, filing systems, and related technology.
- Regularly required to communicate effectively through speaking and hearing.
- Frequently required to use hands and arms for computer and office-related tasks.
- Occasionally required to lift and move office materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
