Capital Area Head Start is seeking full time Behavior Guidance Specialists to join our mission in providing a comprehensive child development program designed to give children a head start in life, empowering parents and strengthening families. The Behavior Guidance Specialist assists with developing and implementing behavioral interventions and delivering classroom support based on child behavior observation outcomes. This position provides education and guidance, to families and colleagues, about social emotional development and positive classroom guidance and maintains the high quality behavioral services provided by Capital Area Head Start. Position Details: $19.82 per hour, may increase based on education and/or experience Salaried, Non Exempt position; Standard biweekly salary paid throughout the entire year, including summer months Hours between 7:30AM and 4:30PM based on assigned center; Schedule is based on the school year and does not require work during the summer months Positions available in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry counties Benefits: Knowing you make a difference everyday Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401K and more Generous paid time off program Mileage reimbursement Extensive training and learning opportunities Career development and advancement opportunities Tuition reimbursement available per eligibility requirements Minimum Requirements: Associate’s degree (or at least 60 credits towards a bachelor’s degree) in early childhood education, special education, psychology or related field Minimum of one year successful teaching or classroom experience working with preschool children in an early childhood setting or one year of other highly related experience Demonstrated expertise in managing challenging behaviors; Knowledge of social and emotional development in preschool aged children Familiar with adult learning principles including experience designing and delivering interactive professional development Intermediate level computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and learn web based systems Valid driver’s license and access to properly insured vehicle or public transportation Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors or master’s degree in a related field Knowledge of the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Young Children Bi/multi-lingual Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start Keystone Human Services prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals based on their status as protected veterans or individuals with disabilities and prohibits discrimination against all individuals based on any category protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
