Capital Area Head Start is hiring an Inclusion Support Specialist (ISS) to support young children with disabilities and help ensure they receive high‑quality early childhood education services. This role plays a key part in empowering families and strengthening communities.
The Inclusion Support Specialist provides direct support to children with disabilities, assists with screening and evaluation processes, and helps implement adaptations and activities tailored to each child’s needs. The ISS also models effective strategies for classroom staff and supports integrated learning environments.

Position Details:
- Pay: $19.82 per hour
- Status: Casual / Per Diem, Non‑Exempt
- Schedule: Typically between 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Service Area: Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties
- Meaningful work that impacts children and families

- Associates degree in early childhood education, special education, psychology or highly related field
- Two years of experience working with young children
- Knowledge of the mental health system and available disability services
- Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook and learn web based systems
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
- Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances
- One year of experience working with preschool children in an integrated setting
- Bi/multi-lingual
- Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start
