About the Position:
St. Peter's Hospital is seeking a Staff Perfusionist to join our cardiac team in Albany, NY. The Staff Perfusionist is responsible for all aspects of perfusion-related services in collaboration with departments of anesthesia, surgery, and nursing administration. This role assumes responsibility for safe and proper operation and quality control of equipment, techniques, and procedures, and analyzes and evaluates activities to assure established quality patient care.
St. Peter's Hospital is the flagship tertiary care center for a large healthcare network in Upstate New York and is ranked in the top 5% of hospitals in the state. Our Cardiac Program is supported by 4 Cardiac Surgeons and we average 450–550 procedures annually consisting of all adult open-heart cases. We have an active and growing ECMO program. No VADs or transplants.
On-call duties are rotated among all team members for a strong work-life balance.

Your Role Includes:
- Cardiopulmonary bypass and extracorporeal circulation
- Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) / counterpulsation
- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
- Autotransfusion and blood conservation
- Equipment safety, quality control, and infection control compliance
- Participation in departmental planning, education, and hospital committees
- Maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion education program
- Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
- Valid New York State license in cardiovascular perfusion
- BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross)
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
