Commercial Lines Insurance Producer
Position Summary:
The primary function of this role is to drive new business growth and maintain a profitable book of commercial insurance accounts. This role involves identifying prospective clients, assessing their insurance needs, and delivering customized risk management solutions. The ideal candidate is a proactive, results-driven professional with strong sales acumen and a deep understanding of commercial insurance products and markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Business Development
- Identify and pursue prospective commercial clients through networking, cold calling, referrals, and industry events.
- Develop and execute sales strategies in collaboration with the Sales Manager to meet new business targets.
- Conduct in-depth needs assessments to recommend customized insurance solutions.
- Prepare and deliver tailored insurance proposals, articulating value, and coverage benefits.
- Maintain an accurate and current sales pipeline in the CRM system.
- Partner with marketing to guide market campaigns and prospecting efforts.
- Contribute to cross-selling opportunities by identifying and sharing leads with other lines of business.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary liaison for clients, responding promptly to inquiries, concerns, and service requests.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based client relationships with a focus on retention and satisfaction.
- Conduct periodic coverage reviews to ensure continued adequacy and identify upsell opportunities.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to deliver superior client service and maintain retention rates.
Market and Industry Knowledge
- Stay current on industry trends, carrier appetite, market conditions, and regulatory changes.
- Build relationships with underwriters and insurance carriers to negotiate favorable client terms.
- Attend conferences, training sessions, and industry events to expand professional knowledge and network.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of client interactions and sales activities in the agency management system (Applied Epic).
- Ensure all new business, renewals, and endorsements comply with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams to deliver seamless onboarding and service.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in sales, consulting, or client-facing business development
- Must have a valid Property and Casualty license that is maintained in the state of business
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Applied Epic, and Indio
- Strong sales and consultative skills with a focus on solutions-based selling
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and negotiation
- Client-focused, with the ability to build rapport and maintain relationships over time
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
- Self-motivated and goal-driven with a growth-oriented mindset
- Travel will be required for client meetings, networking events, and training sessions
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law
