FT UNIT SECRETARY - SNF
$21.00 - $30.70 per hour
The unit secretary will provide organizational, receptionist and clerical support to the patient care units and supports patient care maintenance to ensure an efficient, well-organized unit. Communicate information accurately in a pleasant and efficient manner to a variety of people, including, but not limited to, patients, visitors, nurses, medical staff, and other departments. The unit secretary also functions as a resource to members of the health care team in matters pertaining to non-direct patient care and is familiar with multiple medical center resources. Conducts all aspects of the job using good judgment and problem-solving skills and assumes the responsibility of self-development within the role. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, as well as nursing and facility policies and procedures. Assure's supplies and equipment are readily available and safely stored.

ROLES And RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare charts with appropriate forms for new admissions.
- Monitors and documents omissions for CNA charting.
Inform DON of non-compliance with daily mandated charting requirements.
- Maintains current resident and staffing census daily.
- Monitors for the completeness of admission charts using checklist and notify Charge Nurse daily of any items still to be completed.
- Obtains requested items from Clinical Laboratory, Central Service, Pharmacy, or other departments.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to nurse managers, team leaders, co-workers, and physicians.
- Consult other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the residents' needs.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of resident's records.
- Create and update excel spreadsheets for tasks needed for SNF and teach other staff how to use them.
- Assist the infection Control nurse in various tasks needed for state regulations.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Certified Nurse Assistant certification is a plus but not required
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Strong clerical, administrative and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows. Capable of learning new software programs.
- Able to type 45 words per minute accurately.
