QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of state and District laws, rules, and regulations regarding school attendance accounting and record keeping; attendance accounting methods and techniques, basic record keeping methods and techniques; English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation; computer software necessary to complete assigned tasks.
Must possess the skill to effectively and tactfully communicate in both oral and in written forms in both English and Spanish; train, direct, and prioritize the work of others; effectively analyze situations accurately and adopt effective course(s) of action; communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; effectively maintain record keeping systems and files in a timely manner; prepare attendance reports and correspondence; type/word process accurately at a rate required for successful job performance; operate standard office equipment including computer terminal, calculator, copy machine; perform accurate mathematical calculations using basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Two years of increasingly responsible clerical work, of which at least one year should involve school district experience, or one year as Attendance Clerk with the KHSD. Must pass an oral, reading, and written proficiency test in Spanish.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: To maintain and direct the maintenance of student attendance records and related reports; to wait on students and contact parents, counselors, and teachers regarding attendance related matters. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision from a school administrator or his/her designate within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in this classification train, direct, and supervise the work of subordinates in a lead capacity. This job classification exercises responsibility for directing and participation in the accurate compiling and preparation of attendance, accounting information, data, and reports. Interprets orally and translates written material in Spanish as required.
STARTING SALARY: $3,620.44 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 10 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
