QUALIFICATION: This position requires knowledge of job seeking skills and effective techniques for obtaining employment; current labor market needs and local employers; effective communication and interviewing skills; educational and training requirements for various jobs.
Must have the skills to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, teachers, administrators, employers, and various outside agencies; communicate effectively, tactfully, and persuasively in both oral and written forms; operate a computer and necessary software to maintain records, create letters, reports, and promotional materials; organize and conduct workshops for students on college and career related topics; utilize a variety of different types of technology; collect, organize, and analyze occupational, educational, and economic information for use in job placement activities.
Applicants must possess the ability to recruit students to ROC/CTEC programs through outreach and marketing of
ROC/CTEC programs at the feeder schools throughout the school year; utilize communication and organizational skills to coordinate and conduct training sessions on the job seeking skills, developing resumes, and filling out job applications; assist in the design and development of college and career marketing materials as well as individual program marketing materials; assist in organizing and holding conferences with students, parents, and/or teachers relating to attendance, academic progress, competency standing, and minor discipline; serve as contact person for the business community, armed services, post-secondary schools and other public and private agencies regarding the dissemination of information to students; assist in using a variety of multimedia to keep the school website up to date with current and relevant information; assist with credit/grade checks and notification of home school, students, and parents on academic status; conduct interest inventory, basic skills and career awareness testing; develop and maintain college and career curriculum materials; assist with new student orientation and registration process; assist in collecting student exit data and track student progress after program completion; work with local agencies and business partners to connect students to job opportunities; promote College and Career Center activities to all stakeholders; coordinate and schedule the use of the College and Career Center by eligible stakeholders; orient stakeholder as the proper use of the College and Career Center; its operations, procedures and resources available; attend regularly scheduled staff meetings; in-services and workshops; perform related duties as required.
Successful applicant must possess and maintain a Class C California Driver's License and a safe driving record. Completion of the twelfth grade is required with at least two years of post-secondary education, preferably with coursework in marketing business communications, design, multimedia, web design and/or education. Additional qualifying work experience in marketing, business, communications, design, multimedia, or web development may be substituted for a portion of the required education on a year-to-year basis.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, AS WELL AS A CURRENT COPY OF DMV DRIVING RECORD.
DUTIES OF POSITION: Assist in the development and implementation of the recruitment/ marketing plan for the Regional Occupational Center (ROC) and Career Technical Education Center (CTEC); provide support services through the operation of the College and Career Center for students enrolled as the ROC; assist with Community Classroom and job placement of students. Employees in this job classification receive general to limited supervision from the ROC/CTEC administration.
STARTING SALARY: $5,467.10 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.)
