Job Summary
The Migrant School Readiness Aide supports the implementation of high-quality school readiness services designed to promote the academic, social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development of migratory preschool and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) children. The position also fosters family engagement and empowers parents to actively participate in their children's learning and development. Examples of Essential Duties & Responsibilities: -Assist in preparing and organizing the classroom to support a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. -Provide support to the teacher and students throughout the day during instructional and classroom activities. -Assist students with handwashing, toileting, and other personal care needs while maintaining student dignity, safety, and hygiene. - Assist with classroom clean-up, organization, and sanitation as needed. - Accompany the Mobile Team Member (MTM) during student transportation to help ensure student safety and supervision, or transport when needed. -Assist with the implementation of school readiness activities and educational events for preschool and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) children and their families. -Assist during parent education workshops, family engagement activities, and other family-focused events. -Assist in conducting and documenting developmental screenings and observations in accordance with program guidelines. -Promote a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and culturally and linguistically responsive learning environment for all children and families. -Participate in learning opportunities, professional development, training and meetings. -Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the Migrant Education School Readiness Program (MESRP).
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications: -Knowledge of basic child development principles and childcare practices. -Ability to work effectively with preschool and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) children in a nurturing and supportive environment. -Flexible, patient, and responsive to the diverse needs of children and families. -Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of a team. -Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills. -Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is desirable. -Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and staff members. -Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all information related to children, families, and staff. -Ability to follow directions, exercise sound judgment, and perform assigned duties with professionalism and reliability. Minimum Requirements: Education: High school diploma and hold a minimum of 6 child development/ early childhood education units. Experience with preschool aged children, volunteer or paid basis required.
