Job Summary
Under general supervision, to perform specialized and skilled tasks in the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods in a production food service facility at an outdoor education camp; to assist in the coordination and supervision of food service personnel; to maintain production activities at a high level of quantity and quality; to do other related work as required. This position is seasonal and as such works a limited schedule based on the needs of the program. .
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in quantity food preparation, including cooking, serving, and kitchen maintenance in a commercial, institutional, or school food service setting preferred. Education: Must have high school diploma or a GED certificate. Pass and maintain an approved Safety and Sanitation Certificate, supplemented by training in nutrition, quantity cooking, or other related areas. Attach any documents that you feel will help demonstrate that you meet the minimum qualifications listed above (i.e. resume, transcript, diploma). Documents you wish to attach should be uploaded via EDJOIN by the filing deadline in order to be considered in the hiring process (pertains to current employees also). IMPORTANT COMMENTS: • Current employees: Please email Anisa Hernandez at ahernandez@kern.org with any questions regarding the required documents. • After the filing deadline, all candidates will be notified by email if they do or do not qualify to take the written exam. • Candidates must achieve 70% on the written examination to qualify for an oral interview. Examinations will be weighted 30% for written and 70% for oral. Candidates must obtain a composite score of 70% or better to qualify for the eligibility list. Exam and interviews are scheduled for August 5, 2026 at the KEEP By The Sea at Rancho El Chorro located at 2450 Pennington Creek Rd., San Luis Obispo, California
