Starting Pay: $24.92 per hour
Knowledge And Experience
- Must be minimum 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 3 years verifiable Driving record
- Must have a valid Massachusetts driver license, CDL B with Passenger endorsement preferred
- Must have clean driving record – DMV printout required
- Must have stable work history
- Excellent customer service skills
- Positive attitude and enjoy working with the general public
- Adaptive decisions making skills handling unexpected situations
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to follow directions
- Consistently showing up on time and being dependable
- Ability to obtain a CDL Class B with Passenger and Airbrakes Endorsement
- Ability to work in an ever changing environment
- Must be able to correctly use all electronic technology after training has been provided
Customer Service
- Ensure customers feel welcome
- Effectively communicate with passengers especially in the event of service disruptions
- Provide passengers with assistance as needed
- Accommodate passengers with information such as schedule, guidance, ect.
- Practice defensive driving, anticipating potential hazards and reacting appropriately to avoid accidents
- Ensure safe on-road operations while maintaining on-time performance
- Familiarity with assigned routing and detours to include inclement weather
- Awareness of ADA Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance
- Proper operation of all wheelchair lifts to include manual operation, for each bus model
- Report immediately to dispatch any vehicular accident or passenger incident and follow the incident and accident reporting procedures
- Assist and help passengers with mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or walkers
- Assisting passengers with boarding and properly securing wheelchairs
- Collect the prescribed fare media and notify dispatch of any type of fare evasion or fraud
- Perform pre and post trip inspections and enter all defects on to the DVIR forms
- Follow exact deadhead routing and their assigned revenue service routes
- Depart the start of each route exactly on-time and never operate ahead of schedule
- Operators must wear uniforms at all times while in service and must display a clean and professional appearance.
- Operators are responsible for keeping the vehicle clean and sanitary during their shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned

All roles may entail, to varying extents, the following physical demands:
- Long periods (potentially exceeding 8 hours per day) of walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials, repetitive hand-wrist motions, and traversing uneven surfaces;
- Exposure to both extreme heat and cold;
- Exposure to loud noises, fumes, and airborne particles;
- Operators/Drivers may work inside or outside vehicles and may operate vehicles for over 8 hours per day.
- Operations Supervisors and Managers may split their work between an office setting looking at a computer screen/electronic device and active transit field locations driving in a vehicle.
- Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
- Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
