Our district is forming a District Literacy Team to fulfill the requirements of a new literacy grant. This team offers a significant opportunity to collaboratively strengthen and enhance our K-12 literacy practices across the district, ensuring high-quality instruction for all students.
Team Mission and Responsibilities
Selected team members will collaborate on critical, grant-funded initiatives to evaluate and improve the district's literacy program. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting a SWOT Analysis: Collaboratively analyze the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats of the district's current K-12 literacy practices.
- Literacy Plan Implementation: Deeply engage with and work through the guidelines and requirements outlined in the Iowa Comprehensive State Literacy Plan (CSLP) through assigned reading and discussion.
- Needs Assessment Participation: Actively participate in a Comprehensive Literacy Needs Assessment process led by our external partner, Compass PD.
- Communication & Collaboration: Share information, updates, and action items from District Literacy Team meetings with respective grade-level/content teams during non-meeting PLC Fridays to ensure alignment and broad understanding across the district.
