Job Summary:
The Part-time HR Generalist supports the daily operations of the HR Department by assisting with employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, benefits administration, and HR record management. This role assists in the execution of company policies, procedures, and compliance practices, and assists with coordinating employee engagement efforts under the direction of HR leadership.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists with recruitment and onboarding activities, as needed.
- Assists with developing, maintaining, and managing employee orientation and training programs.
- Assists with bi-weekly payroll processes.
- Assists with performance review processes and reporting.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the HR Department’s technology and assists employees with access and use.
- Maintain HRIS data and generate HR-related reports as needed.
- Maintains a working knowledge of KPA benefits offerings and assists with benefits administration.
- Helps ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Supports employee relations and engagement efforts & events.
- Maintains general knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law, and communicates with HR management about emergent changes in policy practices and resources.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Kentucky Performing Arts while understanding and complying with company expectations, policies, and procedures.
- Adapts well to changing priorities, deadlines, and directions with a positive and open mindset. Communicates clearly, consistently, respectfully, and collaboratively when communicating on behalf of KPA.
- Participates in all appropriate internal and external meetings, as well as professional development programs to maintain competency and increase acumen.
- Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission and goals of KPA.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Ability to effectively communicate in all internal and external relationships for all essential job functions.
- Above average skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and move approximately 30 pounds unassisted with appropriate lifting techniques and/or devices.
- Hybrid work may be available to this position depending on the needs of the company and department.
- Works 20-25 hours per week.
- Must be flexible, intrinsically motivated, and dependable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of human resources experience, preferably in a generalist role.
- Working knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
