Role Description

This is a part-time hybrid role located in Frankfort, KY, with flexibility for some remote work. As the Director of Finance and Accounting, you will oversee key financial functions, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budget planning, and financial reporting. Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with regulations, monitoring financial performance, and supporting strategic decision-making through financial data analysis. You will work closely with stakeholders to enhance financial efficiency and sustainability. Here is a list of responsibilities:

· Provide Quickbooks online services account for accounting functions and reporting or provide comparable accounting software for accounting functions and reporting.

· Process all monthly and annual close procedures for the organization including bank reconciliations

· Process monthly invoicing for the DPH Shared Services and AmeriCorps grants reimbursement, quarterly invoicing for NACCHO grants, annual invoicing for member dues, annual invoicing for AmeriCorps grant site fees/match, and other grant invoicing as obtained by KHDA

· Train and support Office Manager/Staff in processing deposits and vendor payments

· Review accounts payable processing assuring use of appropriate expense codes, mathematical accuracy, and adherence to purchase authorizations, and applicable policies/regulations

· Manage collection of all accounts receivable

· Record monthly cash receipts, ACH and electronic check transactions, journal entries for ADP payroll processing and administrative cost allocations by program

· Ensure archiving of ADP payroll reporting and tax documents

· Review and make recommendations for improvement of revisions and assurance of internal control policies and procedures

· Assist with the annual financial audit working with the contracted agency to ensure timely delivery of testing selections, compliance documentation, and reports as requested as well as, proper archival and filing of the final audit report

· Prepare and present the annual budget for the organization

· Provide budget and financial support for grant proposals

· Provide financial information for quarterly grant compliance reporting and oversight

· Create and generate ad-hoc financial reports and graphical summaries of current integrated accounting information regarding all agency programs as requested

· Provide a summary report of activities on a monthly basis

· Provide financial documentation/assistance to organizations tax accountant for 990 income tax filing

· Assure vendor 1099 tax forms completed accurately and submitted timely

· Participate in KHDA Committees meetings as requested and available

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting
  • Proficiency in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements and managing Financial Reporting
  • Strong Analytical Skills to assess financial data and support strategic decision-making
  • Comprehensive understanding of Finance principles and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in financial software and accounting tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a CPA or MBA is a plus
  • Experience working in non-profit or governmental organizations is advantageous
