- This role is designed and intended to be performed in Muscatine, IA.
- Serve as the primary site safety contact for employees, contractors, and regulatory agencies (OSHA, DNR, EPA, etc.), and actively participate in the Kent safety network.
- Promote a strong safety culture by driving engagement, supporting safety initiatives, and communicating clear safety and training objectives.
- Maintain and execute safety programs, including emergency response plans, annual drills, and regular inspections of safety equipment and PPE.
- Coordinate, lead, and track incident reporting and investigations (injuries, near‑misses, unsafe conditions), ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Conduct daily production floor walkthroughs, safety observations, and project-related safety inspections to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans and ensure consistent daily compliance.
- Deliver safety training, including regulatory standards, company expectations, and safe operation of machinery and equipment.
- Maintain safety documentation and compliance programs, including hazard communication (labels, SDS, chemical inventory), ergonomics support, and required records.
- Associates degree in Safety Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
- 2 years’ experience in Manufacturing operations
- Working knowledge of safety regulations is preferred
- Experience in ISO 9000 and lean manufacturing a plus.
- Demonstrates a high level of understanding of OSHA, EPA, Industrial Hygiene, ANSI, NFPA, and DOT standards and the ability to apply them.
- Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and auditor safety software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees, contractors, and outside agencies.
- Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback.
