Position Summary
Athletic Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintenance related to the athletics program, including the care and monitoring of all athletic facilities, fields, and equipment. The position involves working in partnership with the Athletics Equipment Manager, whose responsibilities include budgeting, procurement, care, distribution, collection, and storage of all athletic equipment, both soft and hard goods.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities Include
High School degree or a combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in an independent school environment.

Position Summary
Athletic Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintenance related to the athletics program, including the care and monitoring of all athletic facilities, fields, and equipment. The position involves working in partnership with the Athletics Equipment Manager, whose responsibilities include budgeting, procurement, care, distribution, collection, and storage of all athletic equipment, both soft and hard goods.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities Include
- Support Grounds Manager to address playing field needs, including “striping” fields, grooming baseball and softball fields, maintaining turf fields, and caring for outdoor tennis courts.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance in athletic facilities as assigned by the Director of Facilities, including two gymnasiums, swimming pool, fitness center, strength and conditioning center, multiple locker rooms, athletic training room, Racquets Center, Hockey Rink, and Field House.
- Work closely with the Grounds Manager and an external turf consultant to improve the quality and playability of the School’s natural grass fields.
- Serve as the maintenance person who will work in partnership with the Equipment Manager to set up and properly store hard goods to support various athletic teams.
- Collaborate with housekeeping staff to maintain the cleanliness and overall condition of athletic spaces.
- Learn how to operate a Zamboni and serve as a backup Zamboni driver to allow Rink Operator some time off during the Hockey Season (mid-November through mid-March).
- Perform other responsibilities designated by the Director of Facilities to contribute to the overall maintenance of our Athletics program.
High School degree or a combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in an independent school environment.
Ideal Candidate
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Thorough knowledge of equipment and workplace safety procedures, including fire safety.
- Skilled in using a variety of tools, comfortable operating power equipment, including lawn mowers, landscaping equipment, and snowplowing equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working with various audiences such as faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively.
- Work well under pressure.
- Able to work independently, make sound decisions, and demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a calm demeanor.
- Willingness to support team members and contribute collaboratively as needed.
- Possess a valid driver's license.

- Ability to stand for extended periods and climb stairs as needed.
- Capable of safely lifting and transporting up to 75 lbs. without assistance.
- Physically able to perform manual labor both indoors and outdoor environments, at times under adverse working conditions.
- Possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand tools, portable equipment, and perform basic mechanical tasks.
- Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
