The QC Lead Technician is the first line of support for Technicians and acts as a backup to the QC Supervisor when necessary. Performs assigned tasks to assure adherence to food safety, quality, procedures and customer specifications. Controls and dispositions nonconforming materials. Audits, conducts inspections, reports non-conformances, and assists in root cause analyses.
- This is an hourly position with a complete benefit package.
- The compensation range for this role is $24 - $27/hr, in addition to KENT standard benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k). Final compensation is subject to variation based on the candidate's skills, job responsibilities, location and other pertinent factors.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates all batch and finished good samples per specifications.
- Evaluates all raw materials per specifications. Compares COA results to specification.
- Maintains accurate records of all test results and generates certificates of analysis per customer request.
- Coordinates equipment sanitation and swab testing on production equipment.
- Routinely conducts in-house and customer sanitation Quality audits. Audits all food handling areas for compliance.
- Initiates Set-up sheets and updates as needed.
- Acts as back-up to the QC Supervisor as necessary
- Conducts calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.
- Arrange delivery of samples for outside testing
- Actively involved in the audit process and preparation.
- Participates in various special projects as instructed by Quality management.
- Conducts daily scale and metal detector checks of the packing room equipment.
- Evaluates production lines for all Quality procedures and specification requirements.
- Audits and assures employee compliance to GMP guidelines. Assists with monthly food and employee safety.
- Investigates customer complaints against retain samples.
- Audits sanitation of blending and production equipment.
- Assists in other areas including Operations and Administrative.
- Supports management with the upkeep of Kosher and Halal certifications.
- Reviews ingredients and finished product for age. Aids in the handle of obsolescent materials.
- Plays active role in the Recall and Mock Recall procedures.
- Creating and researching continuous improvement efforts for Quality and Operations.
- Able to effectively and accurately enter production reporting into database system.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Related College Degree in Science area or equivalent work experience
- Work experience with a focus on Process and Packaging
- 3 years of experience in a QA role with demonstrated leadership skills
- 2 years of experience in the Food or Food Packaging industries, or experience with a firm that supports blending and packaging operations
- Demonstrated experience of decision-making in accordance with requirements.
