POSITION: CUSTODIAN
LOCATION: Kent Center School, Kent, CT

Kent Center School seeks a reliable and dedicated Custodian to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming learning environments for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and works well as part of a collaborative school team.

Position Information

Schedule: Full-year position; 8 hours per day
Hours: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Working Conditions

Kent Center School serves students in grades PK–8. All employees work as a team in a respectful, caring, and supportive environment. The school maintains a positive and welcoming atmosphere, and the successful candidate must be friendly, flexible, and helpful to coworkers, students, families, and community members who enter the building.

Essential Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas in accordance with established cleaning, sanitation, safety, and school procedures.
• Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, and equipment for school events and activities.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Assist during emergencies as required.
• Assist with snow removal and ice control.
• Collect and remove trash and recycling.
• Follow established safety rules and procedures, including the proper use and storage of cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment.
• Assist with receiving and distributing deliveries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Prior custodial or facilities experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and custodial equipment preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods and may be required to bend, kneel, reach, and climb ladders. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. The employee may work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Wage: $23.00 per hour.

This position is eligible for a benefits package that includes:
