What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Assembler (Mechanical or Electrical) position at Kent Automation & Kent Pultrusion?
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Machine Assembler, either mechanical or electrical, to help us assemble and deliver projects in a timely manner.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday; Saturday shift is available periodically when business needs demand it
- 40 hours per week plus overtime when business needs demand it
- Flexible work hours and start time (Start anytime between 5:00AM and 8:00AM)
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assemble mechanical and/or electrical subassemblies and complete machine systems from engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials
- Fit, align, and adjust mechanical components including frames, drive systems, actuators, bearings, and precision hardware to specified tolerances
- If electrical, route, terminate, and label electrical wiring, conduit, and cable trays per NEC standards and internal wiring diagrams
- Identify and communicate fit, interference, or design issues to engineering during build, and assist in developing workable solutions
- Use overhead cranes, hoists, and forklifts to safely handle and position large machine components (forklift cert a plus)
- Comply with all safety rules at all times, including proper PPE (face-shield, gloves, etc.)
- Act in a manner that results in collaboration, teamwork, and respect toward all internal and external contacts
- Other duties as assigned
Required qualifications
- Knowledge of pneumatics and general machine plumbing
- Provide your own tools/toolbox
- Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including engineering drawings (mechanical) or schematics (electrical)
Preferred qualifications
- Ability to do basic machining or fabrication to modify parts, make small brackets, etc.
- If mechanical, willing to learn and do electrical
- If electrical, willing to learn and do mechanical
- Willingness to travel in a company vehicle on a limited basis to customer facilities to assist with machine service
