Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assembly & Fabrication
- Assemble metal parts, hardware, and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
- Perform fitting, alignment, drilling, tapping, deburring, riveting, and fastener installation per requirements.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, BOMs, and assembly work instructions with accuracy.
- Conduct basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, grinding, filing, and minor adjustments to ensure proper fit.
- Operate machines and equipment commonly used in metal assembly (e.g., pneumatic tools, torque tools, presses, drills).
- Inspect incoming fabricated components for defects, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Verify assemblies meet tolerances and quality standards using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Document inspection results and report non-conformances through established quality procedures.
- Ensure all assemblies meet customer, engineering, and industry standards.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), job travelers, and production schedules.
- Collaborate with engineering, welding, machining, and fabrication teams to resolve build issues.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, waste reduction, and process optimization.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation following 5S and safety guidelines.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
- Handle materials safely, including lifting, rigging, and use of hoists when applicable
Minimum Qualifications
- 1β3 years of mechanical assembly experience, preferably in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Experience in a contract manufacturing environment or job-shop style production.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience assembling welded or CNC-machined metal components.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical components is a plus.
