About the role
A global machine tool business is hiring an Area Sales Manager to drive consultative sales across the territory. You’ll develop new accounts, grow existing relationships, and work closely with Applications Engineers and internal teams to deliver solutions aligned to customer manufacturing requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Build and foster strong customer relationships across the territory
- Promote the sale of machine tool products and provide technical sales support
- Partner with Applications Engineers to assess equipment needs and recommend solutions
- Develop, present, and respond to proposals for specific customer requirements
- Proactively visit customer facilities to review service/engineering challenges and uncover sales opportunities (target volume: 25 visits per week)
- Resolve difficult engineering issues in collaboration with internal teams
- Submit weekly territory planning/MIS reports and timely expense reports
- Develop strategic and tactical plans to achieve annual sales goals
- Support demonstrations by partnering with engineering staff
- Participate in semiannual OEM factory visits (Japan, Germany, Italy, China)
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree 5 years relevant B2B sales experience
- 2–5 years B2B sales / business development experience
- Recent experience in machine tool environments preferred
- Ability to travel 80% or more and operate a vehicle regularly
Additional information
- Work includes general office activity and periodic exposure to manufacturing environments (noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, automated/manual machinery).
- Employment is conditioned on the company’s ability to obtain and maintain any necessary export licensing.
