Applications Engineer – Aerospace Additive Manufacturing

The Opportunity
We’re supporting an innovative additive manufacturing organisation at the forefront of metal 3D printing technology in the search for an Applications Engineer focused on the aerospace sector.
This role will work directly with aerospace customers, helping identify opportunities for additive manufacturing adoption across structural components, engine parts, brackets, and critical flight systems.
The position combines customer-facing technical consulting with engineering problem-solving and would suit someone with aerospace manufacturing or product development experience looking to help shape the future of advanced manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support customer enquiries and gather technical requirements for proposal development
- Consult with aerospace customers and provide application guidance
- Travel to customer sites to assess engineering challenges and identify opportunities
- Collaborate internally to deliver prototypes, quotations, and technical recommendations
- Develop conceptual designs and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) solutions
- Support product demonstrations and application validation activities
- Train sales teams on aerospace applications and industry requirements
- Support conferences, trade shows, and technical events
- Develop and maintain application playbooks and best practices documentation
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline
- 3–5 years of experience within aerospace or high-specification manufacturing
- Knowledge of aerospace qualification and certification standards
- CAD experience (NX or similar)
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Comfortable with up to 25% travel
Preferred
- Additive Manufacturing experience
- Experience with aerospace applications and qualification pathways
- Knowledge of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM)
