Job Summary
We are looking for a friendly and dependable Retail Associate to be the face of our store. You will assist customers with product selections, process transactions accurately, and ensure our store is clean, stocked, and fully compliant with New Jersey alcohol sales laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer questions, offer recommendations, and assist with special orders or carry-outs.
- Legal Compliance: Strictly check customer identification (IDs) to verify legal drinking age and refuse sales to intoxicated individuals in accordance with NJ ABC Regulations.
- Cashier Duties: Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, process cash and card payments accurately, and reconcile the cash drawer at the end of shifts.
- Store Maintenance: Stock and rotate inventory on shelves, fill cooler doors, and build attractive end-cap displays.
- Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized sales floor, including sweeping, dusting bottles, and breaking down boxes.
- Deliveries: Assist with unloading, verifying, and organizing incoming distributor shipments.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Age: Must be at least 21 years of age (a strict legal requirement in NJ for handling and selling alcohol).
- Experience: Previous retail, cash handling, or customer service experience is highly preferred.
- Product Knowledge: A working knowledge of wines, spirits, and beers is a strong plus, but willingness to learn is required!
- Physical Demands: Must be capable of standing for long periods and regularly lifting/moving heavy cases of product weighing up to 40 to 50 lbs.
- Availability: Must have a flexible schedule, including the ability to work evenings, weekends (Fridays and Saturdays are a must), and holidays.
- Reliability: Must have dependable transportation to and from work.
Pay: From $15.92 per hour
